Conclusion

I had plenty of time in the taxi from Subic to Manila airport to reflect on my trip. I guessed it had cost about £2,500, but after I had returned and done my sums it was actually £3,000. I think that’s still GREAT value and it could be done for say 75% of that by using cheaper hotels (without Jacuzzis) and capping daily expenditure at say 5,000 pesos/£70 a day.

I thought the girls were just SENSATIONAL and I had a “girlfriend experience” every time, as opposed to a casual fuck. These girls are (in the main) not hard-core whores at all, just pleasant girls from the villages trying to make a living using the gifts they were given. They weren’t given the gift of being born in the western world for sure!

Here’s to many, many more trips – I think I have found my Nirvana and have limited interest in visiting anywhere else in the foreseeable future – there are LOADS of other places in the Philippines to explore … and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.

Next trip is a 3 week recon in July 2009, taking in Bacolod, Puerto Princesa, Cagayan De Oro and Iloilo. The first 2 are top of my likely list of places to stay long term.  I will then return to Cyprus for about a month and make my final exit late August. I say ‘final’, what I am going to do is burn no bridges. I can mothball the apartment I own here in Cyprus, leave my car with a pal – and get on the plane with 2 suitcases and a laptop to start my new life (aged 60 by then). If all turns out not to plan, I can just reverse my steps and still have a EU base to return to. Seems eminently sensible to me.

Tendai @ 10:53 pm

I have enjoyed every bit of your adventurous trip to the Philippines. I was there last year from March 20 through April 12, 2008. I had good time but not as much as you did. I am looking forward visiting that country again end of July this year. I would love to chat with you in person if you happen to be there around July-August. Don’t we all just love those asian girls!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience.

Darren @ 9:56 pm

Great little site you have Adrian - and i can only assume that it will start to build quite well as you really get to enjoy PI.

I am looking at doing a Early Retirement stint myself and as i have only frequented the wounders of LOS you can imagine PI is also on my vist - before settling on one.,

Anyways - Great Read

Cheers

Adrian @ 4:23 am

Hi Tendai, my next trip is July 4th for 3 weeks, visiting Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Puerto Princesa & Bacolod. Then I am back in Cyprus for 3 weeks, leaving mid-August for Tagbilaran & Dumaguete. Who knows if our paths may cross - I’d enjoy a beer and a chat. Cheers Adrian

admin @ 9:28 am

Hi Darren, you have made me curious - where is “LOS”?

I am not that sure if I will continue with updating this site with further adventures, it takes a lot of time to note down stuff, transcribe it and then upload. Having said that I’ve done the back-breaking work and adding pages is dead simple. Jury’s out.

Cheers
Adrian

Toys @ 2:47 pm

Fantastic trip! Thanks for the detailed report, it gives me hope and courage. I would be interested in your next trip, even if it is a short summary. Also want to know how your plan works out with living there. So don’t quit on us now.

Thanks.

panagiotis @ 3:41 pm

You made me dreaming of heaven all right…..
And that is..Priceless!!! :p

Martin @ 8:53 am

Dear Adrian

Inspirational stuff!

Please continue to post your PI experiences - greatly appreciated and hugely enjoyed - but with a wide streak of envy, mind you.

Cheers

steve @ 7:43 am

Nice site mate, I think Darren was refering to Thailand, LOS is short for land of smiles another name for thailand. all the best, Steve

Canadian Guy @ 1:11 pm

Excellent read!! Sounds like a great time. It’s August 2009 now, are you “living” in paradise yet? My expected envy. Here’s to living life and here’s to you Adrian!!

John @ 9:54 am

Hi Adrian,

Your article has forced me to find an excuse to go to the Philipines! I’m planning to go for the first time in October, it would be a pleasure to buy you a drink or 2 if your around then.

Regards,
John.

admin @ 5:36 am

@Toys and @Canadian Guy. Well I have been back here in the Philippines since mid August. I have visited all the cities on my short list now and decided (yesterday, 26th August) that Dumaguete is my place of choice, narrowly beating Puerto Princesa. Dumaguete has everything - great Boulevard for drinking/eating/picking up girls, 3 ‘proper’ go-go girlie bars, loads of freelancers all over the place! A large expat group lives here - over 2,000 foreigners from all over the world. They are very evident on the streets, in the bars and are very approachable. MacDonalds for breakfast is the place to start meeting expats. They gather from 7am-10am every day, other groups do lunch in Scooby’s … easy to make friends and get good info. Ther is one excellent shopping mall, with 2 others under construction. Everything dirt cheap - I have rented a large hotel bedroom with queen bed, aircon, cable TV, internet via LAN cable … all for £225 a month! The hotel is right in the heart of town and so no vehicle is necessary and of course security is taken care of too. This won’t work if/when I get a live-in girlfriend, but will do in the short term.

I am looking at a 2 bed, 2 bath town house on Saturday, near the new mall - rent is £175 a month, but then you need to add for utilities, so probably would work out around £250 a month all in, but a vehicle might be necessary too. There are NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS in the whole of Dumaguete … I have never seen such utter madness - yet there are very few accidents. Driving here is not for the faint-hearted!

Lee @ 2:23 pm

I’ve just back from CEBU. The club “Stripe” that you mentioned, became empty place. The owner is changed, new English man - “Terry”, show me some tricks when we leave there. He’s looking was very friendly & funny. But, now, there are only 8~10 girls, dance was not good, barfine was 2,000 php. Some people said that ex-owner “David” has some trouble with the bar. I think Terry should inovate everything on the bar.

Visit Vikings. There was more large space & many girls. Barfine is 1,700 php. Or, Mermaid on Maktan is very recommendable. Very large & about 60 beautiful girls are there. But barfine was 3,500 php - it’s not expensive for it’s value.

I’ve just back. I can bring you the band new info. :-)

Just where is DUMAGUETE?

Any other places u would recommend..

Chris @ 8:02 am

Hi Adrian

Great read, I’d been thinking of going to Cebu over Christmas New Year, this story has just about made up my mind. Thanks so much for sharing in the fun you had, lucky bastard; one of your girls would have done me.

Cheers
Chris

Jon @ 8:03 pm

Very Nice!
Enjoyed it.
Thanks.

Dan Stadler @ 11:53 pm

Great report. Some of the best descriptions of experiences on a trip I have read.
I have a questions about the girls. Sorry if this is too personal. I have heard that In PI they will go BB(no condom) during sex. Is that the norm from your experience?
thanks

Ole @ 7:06 pm

Great adventure and storries here!
Iam going in desember to Angeles and I can not wait to show my friend this heaven of a place. Got Philippina girlfriend for 2 years now, but a small detour to Angeles to show the sites to a friend must be OK?

Enjoyed your site!

Have fun in paradise…….

Peter @ 9:33 am

Hi Adrian,

Hope you are enjoying your time in Paradise. I first read this site well over a year ago and just enjoyed a re-read. You lucky fellow!. Any chance of getting an update of how things are going for you ?. Would love to hear all about it.

Cheers.

Adrian @ 10:09 pm

@Dan Stadler

Hi Dan, yes, many girls will go bare back .. but, that being the case, why would YOU want to? Too risky my friend …

Adrian @ 10:44 pm

@Peter Well Peter, having had 3 fantastic trips to the PI over a year, I decided I would see if I could find me a ‘decent girl’ and see how that would go. Surrounded by available pussy and I want a ‘keeper’ now - how stupid is THAT? Nevertheless that’s the stage I am at.

The culture here respects age, so very different from the West. Sure, there are many girls who look at foreigners as a way to get out of poverty, but there are also many who are decent girls, not motivated by money, but by the generally kind and appreciative attention they get from an older guy - very different from the local lads who fuck ‘em and treat them poorly.

I moved to the PI permanently last August (2009) and settled in Dumaguete, a small city in the central Visayas. There are many compromises to be made living here in a 3rd World country, but there are significant positive factors - money goes a LONG way here and the women are beautiful, attentive and once you have lived with an Asian girl - you know what it is to be pampered and treated like a king. Odd at first, but fabulous now! I met a number of girls through contacts here, but only managed to fuck one! This is actually a conservative society if you leave the bar girls out of the equation.

I made an initial contact with a Dumaguete girl on an online dating site. Janice and I dated for a while, then I met her parents, then her Pastor (a great guy, an ex drug addict!) before I could get her into bed. Very, VERY different from the pay for play girls! I will never tire of Janice, she is just fantastic in bed and very, very horny. She comes easily and can often have 3-4 orgasms before I get there. Yesterday’s score for her was 16 cums … just fab. She only had one partner before me and they only had sex 7 times over 3 years! So she is completely mouldable and interested in any kind of sex play. Actually I just like her naked, walking around in the kitchen doing routine stuff in the buff. She has a beautiful slender body and is perfectly proportioned. She is THE ONE for me, I have no doubts, she is just a FINE person all round.

So, 6 months later … we have been lving together for 4 months now and it’s all hearts and flowers. She is a fabulous cook (a major surprise), is industrious around the house, completely reliable, has INITIATIVE (an almost unknown quality here) and she has earned my trust and respect. Her parents are also respectful and keep their distance, though they only live 3 miles away. We have become engaged recently, her at 24 and me at 60 - an unbelievable combination in the Western world eh? That would keep the gossips busy there. Here, nobody bats an eyelid.

Dumaguete has not however stood the test of time. It is a backwater city with few modern amenities plus provincial attitudes (i.e. dumb fuck stupid people and piss poor standards of service). I doubt that many Europeans could adapt to life here, the weather alone would wear many down (I would die without aircon). There definitely is NO chance of a foreigner earning a living here, thank goodness my customer base is in the UK. As for driving in the Philippines - it does not matter where you choose to live, these people have no driving skills, no fear of death and put the shits up me! Traffic, particularly motorcycles, pass either side, nobody looks in their mirror, there are no traffic lights in Dumaguete so each junction (every 100 yards in town) is a duel to be fought with dozens of other maniacs, 10% of these idiots drive at night with no lights on - and dogs like to dash out in front of you. A nightmare - I have never seen such undisciplined chaos on the roads!

I want to move from Dumaguete, need something a little more civilised and with more amenities too. Having spent a week in Davao we discovered there is a vast choice of goods and services on offer, you can get ANYTHING there. There are 5 vast Malls and 2 more under construction. The attitudes of staff in businesses is much more commercial than the peasants in sleepy Dumaguete, the traffic is ONE HUNDRED times more navigable (I can certainly drive there and would never dream of that in Duma), the roads are broad (and finished), trikes might number 5% of vehicles and everything is just MUCH more orderly. The weather is much cooler and comfortable - no need for aircon at night at the moment. We had to buy Janice a long-sleeved jacket as we were really cold the first couple of days! Prices are much the same as Dumaguete, though you might spend 10% more on accommodation and a bit more on goods - because you can actually BUY STUFF there! The contrast between here and there was brought into focus when we were driven to Davao airport by our hotel owner (a Brit) in a nice vehicle in moderate traffic (with traffic lights) on broad roads - and when we deplaned in Dumaguete at 4pm we were faced with the fucking CHAOS of thousands of trikes, engine fumes, no driving skills, traffic jams and all that shit. We tried to buy just 2 things when we got back, both from Lee Plaza (the major supermarket here) - a fresh loaf of bread and a bottle of gin … both were the usual "out of stock". In Davao there is a vast array of booze, both in range and quantity. That is just one example - the 2 cities might as well be on different CONTINENTS!

We very nearly bought some land for a custom-build home there!!!! A fabulous development on slopes looking over the city to Samal Island in the bay beyond. We are not talking 3rd world crap like you find here - but a high standard of build and finish, with gated communities and a totally different feel to anything you could find in this dump (and much more saleable too). It’s not quite European or American standard, but you would recognise it as being familiar … find anything like that in Dumaguete!! Although born and bred in Dumaguete, Janice lived in Manila for 4 years and Cebu for 1 year, so she doesn’t have the small town mentality. She is very willing to give Davao a go, we have agreed she will go back to Dumaguete twice a year and I’m hoping that will make it all work out OK. We will move there on June 1st 2010, just after we get married.

So that’s the end of my diary folks. A very, VERY happy ending too. It is 367 days TODAY, 28th Feb 2010, since I first set foot in the PI - and how my life has changed, beyond recognition … and very much for the better. So thanks for reading about my exploits and I hope many of you take the chance to pop over to see what YOU make of this backward, but very beautiful country.

Good luck
Adrian

P.S. I would HIGHLY recommend http://www.cherryblossoms.com to start chatting to girls here - don’t be a cheapskate, pay for a full membership! The functionality and extra features makes this site stand out WAY ahead of other offerings. I have tried them all.

Rich Houston Texas @ 5:27 am

Adrian,
Thanks for your site. I may come to the Philippines in June on my rotation. I will have three weeks. Liked your site and the great pics. We are blocked most sites by work filter, so can’t get as much info as I would like, but looked like I could fly into Manila, get a car from Swagman’s to pick me up and deliver me to Angeles City, and stay there reasonably. If I wanted to go to a coastal town with a beach and some interesting Philipina girls, what would you recommend? I think I might get bored with Angeles City after a week, and I would like to hang around a beautiful beach and some beautiful scenery. Thanks for the advice and pics, you could send me more if you like. And Good luck on your life, mate. Cheers, Rich

Chris @ 9:54 am

Hi Adrian, good to hear you’ve found a good woman and have settled well. I too will be moving to PI soon and have decided on Cebu or davao. Like you I make a living online so internet connectivity and efficiency is an important factor for me. How do you find the internet connection and/or the wi fi facilities in Davao? Cheers.

Peter @ 1:48 am

Hi Adrian,

Peter here again.

Thank you for your fantastic update! I’m excited to hear that things had moved forward for you, it really sounds like you’ve got it made. Janice sounds like a nice girl too, from what you’ve written, I hope you two have a long and happy life together and Congratulations on your engagement!.

I’m in the same field of work as you are, and in fact the reason I went into this field was so I wouldn’t have to be in one particular place, I could work and live in one country, and have my clients in another - much like what you are doing.

Your living the dream man, living the dream.

Let us know how the wedding goes, do they do the traditional thing over there, or just a celebrant, or do they believe in a different style of service ?

In any case, congratulations again, and I wish you and your lovely lady all the best :).

dave,uk @ 7:06 am

hi adrian
great read, ive just returned from my 5th visit to davao city in 2 yrs , i love it,going back in september if u fancy a beer n chat. if i can give u any info on davao city just ask me ok
best wishes on yr marriage in june
dave

Adrian @ 2:02 am

@Rich. You were asking about having a 2 center vacation Angeles City plus a beach resort with plenty of pussy action. A beach resort not too far south from Manila is Puerto Galera on the northern tip of Mindoro island. Just Google “puerto galera mindoro”.

Actually, if yu have 3 weeks you might consider this route - AC for 1 week, Subic for 4 days (Barrio Baretta, the strip where I stayed) then south, past Manila to Puerto Galera for say 10 days, if you want to finish on the beach. There is a beach at Barrio Baretto too, not too bad really. I just don’t like the view of all those container ships moored up for a long time.

Adrian @ 2:14 am

@ Chris.

Well Cebu is a dangerous shit hole in my books. I would NEVER consider living there. Davao is FAR superior in every way.

I only spent a week in Davao, so I can only give you a first impression about internet speed. It seems to me that in the 3 main cities of Manila, Cebu and Davao the sertvice is pretty much the same. Expect a real download speed of 400-600 kilobits/s. Outside the main cities ‘broadband’ is available, but not the internet as you know it! It drives me bloody crazy, but the technology just isn’t here - nor the trained personnel either!

Adrian @ 2:23 am

@ Peter.

Thanks for the congrats. Christianity (mainly Catholic flavor) is deeply embedded here, courtesy of the Spanish. So if marrying a Catholic girl expect 3 hours of torture (mostly on your knees) in a church. Happily my wife is a protestant and with me being an atheist a happy compromise was made. We got married legally at the Hall of Justice and then had her Pastor say a few words at the beginning of the reception.
